Rethinking Exercise

Somewhere along the way, we were taught that exercise is penance for eating.

But in midlife, movement becomes something way more powerful, it’s a gift we give ourselves.

It’s the way we keep up with our kids/grandkids, protect our bones, and clear our minds.

Fitness isn’t about shrinking; it’s about strengthening physically, mentally and emotionally.

We’ve also been told a cookie equals 50 squats or 30 minutes on the treadmill.
That if we eat more, we just need to do more cardio to burn it off. Please!

That’s not fitness, it’s guilt disguised as discipline. And it’s not the mindset that leads to real, lasting health. It’s time to change our mindset.

In midlife, movement becomes something deeper.
– Cardio supports our heart and lungs.
– Strength training protects our bones and builds muscle.
– Agility work keeps us steady and sharp.

This isn’t about chasing calories. It’s about longevity.

Consistency with cardio, strength, and agility is what carries us forward.
Not punishment for yesterday’s snack, but preparation for a longer, stronger life.

The goal isn’t to be smaller. It’s to be strong, and avoid frailty.
So next time you move your body, remember: it’s not punishment. You GET TO exercise.

Enjoy the cookie and Enjoy the workout!
